Pana Kalkandu is a natural crystalline sweetener prepared from the sap of the Palmyra palm tree, botanically known as Borassus flabellifer. Fresh palm sap (neera) is gently concentrated and allowed to crystallize, forming white to off-white sugar crystals.
It is widely used in Siddha, Ayurveda, and traditional South Indian households as a cooling, easily digestible sweetener, preferred over refined sugar—especially for children, elders, and during illness.
